Genetic Testing for Keratoconus
NOW AVAILABLE!
We are pleased to offer AvaGen - A genetic test to help determine keratoconus risk. If you are a keratoconus suspect, this is a great test to help identify your genetic risk factor for corneal dystrophies, such as keratoconus.
Ideal candidates:
- Patients at risk for keratoconus (keratoconus suspect)
- Patients with keratoconus who want to know if family members (siblings, children, etc) are at risk
- Children with rapidly changing glasses prescriptions
- Patients considering LASIK or PRK surgery who show suspicious refractive or corneal findings
Avagen is an easy, in-office test performed by a technician or doctor at the Contact Lens Institute of Nevada. A simple cheek swab is all it takes. Fast, easy, and no pain!
